This is a very special outfit post for me. Not only is this the first Spring post, but I wore this to my older sister’s baby shower! I’ve used lots of color in this outfit to incorporate the change in weather. Several of my readers have requested that I explain different ways of pairing items in my posts. In this outfit, I paired this skirt from Akira Chicago with a bright yellow tank and a color block clutch. I could have kept it safe with a black pump, but I decided to be more daring and went with a cobalt blue pair of heels! Since this skirt is black and white, any color would really go well with it. If you’re one of those people that don’t like to experiment with color, I would choose either a white or black top and a pair of classic black strappy heels. Now if you’re the opposite, I would even try out a print! I can see this going with polka dots and/ or thin stripes the best, but this skirt is so versatile that I honestly think it would look good with anything. You can always switch it up and wear a solid skirt and play up your top. Think of fashion as a hobby, it’s fun! Play around with it and see what you like best on YOU! You know what they always say…. No one knows you like you know you!

Hope your week is off to a great start! This look works for Chicago’s recent semi bipolar weather, where you’re better off layering up than not. After all, you can always take layers off if you get too warm. Here, I’m sporting a sweater with a blazer, and paired it with some fun red pants. Colored pants add a bit of boldness to any outfit, but make sure it’s not overpowering. What are your thoughts on colored pants?
For the finishing touch, I added my newest addition to my shoe family: a pair of gold and black loafers. This casual look eliminates the need to accessorize, and you can wear this to work or a casual dinner date!
